Postpartum doula support is practical, educational, and emotional support to all members of a new or growing family, helping parents and siblings get beyond survival mode so they may enjoy the first weeks and months of their new child’s life. My greatest pleasure and responsibility is to give the family space and time to flourish by getting to know itself and the people who make it.
Prenatal preparatory sessions are 2 hours in your home. We talk about considerations for recovery, feeding your baby, visitors and other support people, your roles and responsibilities, the emotional terrain, your home setup, etc. This includes some follow up resourcing and communication.
In person postpartum sessions are up to 3 hours. They’re education, thought partnership, and hands-on support. We can talk through what you're working on and learning about in the moment (feeding, sleep, recovery, care, etc.) and/or I can add my hands to the mix and support you more logistically and materially.
Phone sessions are up to an hour. These are for troubleshooting, processing, envisioning and navigating helpful systems, support for making decisions, etc. Sometimes they are scheduled in advance, and sometimes relatively spontaneous, responding to the moment at hand.
“When all the layers of support are there for a family, the family hums.” -Ray Castellino
